Restroom Trailers Vs Portable Restrooms - Which Does My Event Call For?
There are many occasions when the need arises for portable restrooms or restroom trailers. When the call of nature hits and you are at an outdoor event, there needs to be somewhere to go for relief. Fortunately, there are hundreds and probably even thousands of companies across the country that can provide these services. How do you choose between single port-o-potty units and more versatile restroom trailers?
The choice basically comes down to a matter of need, conformity to state sanitation codes and your budget. The size of the event, type of event and how long you will need to rent the portable facilities all play a part in your decision to choose either single, stand alone, portable restroom units or a restroom trailer.
A general rule for understanding the costs of renting the different units is as follows. Simple plastic, single stall units (port-o-potties) are at the low end of the cost scale. The more units long island bathroom rentals you order, the lower the price per unit. Restroom Trailer rentals can start out at fairly low prices for single unit models and rise quite high for multi-unit, executive style trailers that feature individual bathrooms, complete with sinks, showers, oak cabinets, designer colors and even some pictures decorating the walls.
Sanitation codes across the country require restroom facilities for special events where a large number of people may gather. Codes vary from state to state. Some states speak only in general terms of providing adequate facilities for the expected number of people in attendance while other states, like Florida, are much more specific. In Florida, the code specifies the number of units required for the expected number of people at the event and also takes in to consideration the duration of the event. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends one unit for every twenty patrons, while the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has a much stricter one stall for every ten event attendees.
Restroom trailers are generally the better choice when you need a large number of units for an extended period of time. For instance, after Hurricane Katrina, when thousands were displaced and were relocated to temporary tent cities, restroom trailers with shower facilities were set up to provide basic services. These facilities which can be highly customized also make sense for large outdoor weddings. On the other hand, a few small portable restrooms are adequate for a remote construction site.
